Personal Fitness {Merit Badge Monday}

One of the merit badges Brennan is working on right now is Personal Fitness. Perhaps the most difficult requirement is "Keep a log of your fitness activity (how long you exercised; how far you ran, swam, or biked; how many exercise repetitions you completed; your exercise heart rate; etc.)." He's having trouble consistently exercising and remembering to write it down on the form. It might be awhile before he has all twelve weeks completed.

In the meantime, he's trying to make his exercise program as fun as possible. The other afternoon, he asked if he could walk to the gas station about a mile away so that he could get some exercise. He came back with this:

Exercise: check. Personal fitness: I don't know. I suspect a 70 ounce soft drink doesn't fall in line with personal fitness goals. I'll leave that discussion up to his merit badge counselor, though.

My friend Debra at Footprints in the Butter blogs somewhat regularly about the merit badges her kids are working on, and I'm joining her this week. Next week, I plan to share some pictures one of the scoutmasters (aka my wonderful husband) took at summer camp.

  1. Well, Matthew asked to walk to CVS (4 miles round trip) because there's an ice cream shop along the way...

  2. Come on Brennan. You can do it. I know the physical fitness won't be a problem. Keep up that log, scout. Maybe you could work out some kind of a deal with mommy and daddy that if you keep it up for a week, you could earn a stop by Sonic.Nana
