Our Family's "Best Books" Awards

Our family couldn't chose just one favorite book to share for the Schoolhouse Crew's "A Good Read" cruise this week so we came up with a whole list of our "Best Books" with winners in several different categories.

Addison's All-Time Favorite Book: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Brennan's All-Time Favorite Book: A Week in the Woods by Andrew Clements
Lauren's All-Time Favorite Book series: the American Girl® historical fiction books (various authors), especially the ones about Molly

All-Around Favorite Book series: Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

Brennan's favorite book series: The Hardy Boys by Franklin W. Dixon

Lauren's new favorite books: Betsy and Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace (and others in the series)

Best read-aloud: Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham

Best audiobook we listened to: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
Runner-up: The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall

Visit the Crew blog any time after Thursday morning April 11th to see the list of what everyone else loves reading. I'm looking forward to finding new treasures to add to my "must-read" list.

  1. My cousin who passed away a few years ago was named Tacy after the character in the book. I've never read them, but kinda feel like I should now.

  2. Visiting from the Crew.

What a great list of books. I had to laugh the The Mysterious Benedict Society was your favorite audio. My kids love the audio books and I can't stand the narrator and sometimes feel like I need earplugs to block out his voice, which tells you how much these are listened to in our house!

  3. We have all of the Mysterious Benedict Society books and Jonathan listens to them over and over. Thank you for introducing them to us back when we used to go to the library together :).

He is on a Redwall kick right now. Love your list, and love all these books!.
