Goal Planning Monday (Jan 7)

I've had a streak of productive days lately, and I'm tempted to list out tons and tons of things that I've been meaning to do "someday" and call that this week's goals. Realistically, though, that would simply be setting myself up for failure and discouragement. Instead, I'll share a bit of what I did accomplish over our Christmas break and then set forth some realistic goals for this week.

What I did over Christmas Break (the highlights):
1. Played a bunch of games of Quirkle.

2. Watched at least a half-dozen Disney movies.

3. Cleaned out enough stuff in my garage that I could hide my husband's car in it when he was away for an overnight trip.

4. Printed my new, perfect planner and started using it.

5. Made sure all the Christmas decorations were packed away neatly in the garage, including the oversized bag holding the Christmas tree.

Goals for this week:
1. Exercise: I just finished my weekly kickboxing class. (Awesome workout!) I'm also joining a group of ladies from church that are training to run a 5K in March. I've been stuck at only being able to run about 2 miles before my knee hurts so I'm starting at the beginning of the Couch to 5K program with the hopes that I can build up strength slowly and not have to cut my runs short because of this pesky knee.

2. Bible reading: I started another session of B90 this morning. This time our group is reading through a Chronological Bible. Only 89 more assignments to keep up with.

3. Scripture memory: I've also challenged myself to memorize 100 Bible verses this year -- 2 verses per week for 50 weeks. I've got three that are solid, and one that I'm still practicing. Of course, we did start off rather easy.

4. Read. I tend to spend my spare time (and sometimes my not-spare time) on the computer. I'd like to spend more time reading real books. I may go back and read some classics that I've either never read or have forgotten.

5. Finish a photo project that I've been procrastinating on for several months. It should be fairly easy to finish the book and order it this week.

6. Finish a few blog posts -- some have been started, one or two might be nearly done, and a few are still just ideas.

7. Go to bed at a reasonable time each night so that I can get up early and get the next day off to a productive start.

I hope that's both realistic enough and challenging enough for this week. I want to stretch myself to do more this year, but I don't want to set the bar so high that I'm tempted to just give up.

I'm adding my list of goals to the other ones at Real Life Unscripted. We'd love to have other friends join us!

  1. We still have our decorations up and since it mostly depends on my hubby and boys I will not put it as a goal because it doesn't depend mostly on me. We watched a lot of Christmas movies and a few others during the holidays as my Mom was visiting and we have to keep her occupied. Exercise.. I was supposed to do that today and haven't yet. Reading the Bible through chronologically in 90 days. I have never done that... I did read it through in a year, but never in 90 days... maybe after my last child graduates... I just can't seem to find the time now. I am reading through Proverbs each month in 2013 to gain wisdom from this great book. I hope it helps. Read, I have a goal of reading 55 books in 2013 and just finished my first.

God Bless and have a great, productive week.
