December Virtual Refrigerator -- My Little Knitter

I've often seen the Virtual Refrigerator link-up, but never participated. I don't think of myself (or our homeschool days) as very artistic. I think we have paints, but I rarely pull them out. For a while, all of the kids colored while we did read-alouds, but our most recent read-alouds have just been Lauren and me snuggled up on the couch in front of the fireplace.

When I saw Kym sharing pictures of her homeschool group's Christmas craft breakfast on Homeschool Coffee Break, I decided to share a few pictures of the crafting going on around our house.

Like me, Lauren loves to knit and crochet. Lately, she's been carrying around yarn so that she can make stockings for all of her American Girl dolls. I snapped a picture of her while she was waiting for her Occupational Therapy appointment yesterday. (And yes, I realize the irony of a proficient knitter needing occupational therapy.)

Here is the growing collection. Some of them have already had the seam down the back sewn and others are still unfinished. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where she got the pattern. She often spends her free time watching knitting videos on YouTube and/or searching for free patterns online.

Most of her other recent projects have been baby hats. She's making red hats to send to the American Heart Association as part of the Little Hats, Big Heart Project. The hats will go to babies born in Denver hospitals during February (American Heart Month).

Lauren also made a hat and an adorable pair of teeny-tiny baby socks for her transplant coordinator. I'm sad that I didn't get a picture of them before she gave them away.

As long as I'm showing off Lauren's knitting skills on my blog, I might as well make sure lots of people see it. I'm linking up this post with the Virtual Refrigerator Blog Hop hosted by several of my favorite bloggers.
