Koru Naturals {Schoolhouse Crew Review}

I'm not normally a high-maintenance type of girl. My cabinets don't have lots of fancy name brand make-up products, I rarely polish my nails, and my flat-iron gathers dust most days. I don't have anything against pampering myself; I just rarely take the time to do something special. My new products from Koru Naturals make me feel pampered without adding a lot to my already overwhelmed to-do list. Even better, Koru Naturals carries beauty and skin care products that rely on natural substances instead of chemicals to be effective.

For the past few weeks, we've been using Manuka Honey Propolis Soap,  Skin Clear CreamManuka Honey and Manuka Oil Facial Cleanser and Manuka Honey, Tamarind and Manuka Oil Facial Toner.

The Manuka Honey Propolis Soap ($7.90 for a 5 ounce bar) is amazing. It has a mild natural scent that doesn't make me start sneezing like a lot of the body washes I've used lately. It also has a wonderfully thick lather that is perfect for nick-free shaving. Several times I've been in a hurry and used it as a face wash as well as a regular soap. (That's probably not recommended to do often, but I haven't noticed any ill effects from taking that sort of short cut occasionally.)

While I've noticed that my skin is less dry after using the Honey Propolis Soap, the biggest effect I've seen is on my daughter Lauren's skin. About a month ago, Lauren's eczema was completely out of control. We started using the Honey Propolis Soap in addition to prescription ointments for the worst spots. Her skin cleared up quickly, and now we only have to use the soap. I don't even have to slather her in lotion after her bath. For now, we're sharing the single bar of soap, but I'm going to get her a bar for the kids' bathroom soon.

Addison and I have both tried the Manuka Honey and Manuka Oil Facial Cleanser ($13.60 for 4 ounces) and the Manuka Honey, Tamarind and Manuka Oil Facial Toner ($13.20 for 4 ounces). We agree that it feels fabulous to use it, and Addison noticed that the two products work better together than when she used the toner by itself. It only takes me a few minutes to use the cleansing gel and then swipe my face with a few drops of toner on a cotton ball. Those few minutes make a noticeable difference in how smooth my face feels afterwards.

The Skin Clear Cream ($19.20 for 4 ounces) is my new favorite lotion. It comes with claims about how great it is for acne prone skin. I don't consistently have problems with breaking out, so I cannot make any scientifically sound claims about how it did or did not work for my acne. (Actually, right now I have a few zits that I think were caused by not washing my face at all for the three or four days we were camping last week.) I'm quite sensitive to the way things smell, and this cream has a subtle clean scent that I really enjoy. What I love most about the Skin Clear Cream is how it feels when I smooth it on my face. It reminds me of smoothing on a fancy beauty treatment, not just a regular lotion. Since it only takes me a few seconds to moisturize my face, I can add this little bit of pampering to my everyday routine.

Addison and I still use many of the products I reviewed last Spring.  The Pure Emu Oil is a favorite for dry, cracked hands as well as an excellent leave-in hair conditioner. Addison is still a big fan of the Manuka Oil and Active Manuka Honey Shampoo and Conditioner. It seems to be the best thing she's found for her hair.

I probably won't turn into a high maintenance gal anytime soon, but I'm definitely turning into a woman who appreciates high quality beauty products with natural ingredients. I'll definitely be ordering more products from Koru Naturals so that we can all have a little bit of pampering in our days.

    1. I can't believe you haven't tried anything yet! I'm becoming a natural products snob because of what I've tried with the crew. I'm probably healthier because of it, though.
