After much searching through past posts, I realized I might not have shared the prom pictures we took six years ago.
For the past nine years, volunteers have worked with the Child Life departments at CHOP to host a Prom for all of the children stuck in the hospital during prom season. I'm sure it's especially meaningful for teenagers who can't attend prom at their own schools, but it's also a lot of fun for the little ones (and their parents) who get to come too.
Lauren had been at CHOP waiting for a heart transplant for a little more than five months when prom rolled around in 2009. Tim was able to come up from Washington DC that night to join us for the special occasion. He wore his formal military uniform and brought me one of the dresses left behind in my closet at home. The hospital had plenty of donated gowns for the children to choose from, but Lauren ended up wearing the dress Addison had worn as the flower girl in my sister's wedding.
