God listens (even when I'm sarcastic)
For the past few months, the youth at our church have been preparing for our annual Leadership Training for Christ convention with churches from all over our region of the United States.
As usual, the last weekend before LTC was a bit chaotic. On Sunday evening, all of the participants present their drama, puppets, and chorus events to the church family. I arrived a few minutes before the performances started, and Addison was frantically trying to figure out if anyone had a copy of the younger kids' Christian film entry. She had helped with that event and had done all the video editing. I knew that the only copy of the film was on our desktop computer at home.
I rushed home from church, burned a DVD with the film on it, and hurried back to church.
A few miles from our house, I turned a corner and found myself behind a car that was creeping along going five to ten miles per hour under the speed limit. I started getting impatient.
I sarcastically muttered to myself, "God, I'm trying to be thankful for the car you sent to make sure I don't get a speeding ticket."
Sure enough, within a minute, a cop passed by going the opposite direction.
Thank you, God, for listening to me and caring for me -- even when I'm hurried and impatient and sarcastic.
