Tonight I am praying for a family that is very dear to ours. I don't know their names, but they mean the world to us.
One year ago today, a young child died. In the midst of their grief, that family decided to donate their child's organs to save the life of another child. One year ago this evening, I received a phone call at the hospital to let us know that they had identified a donor organ that matched Lauren. We had been waiting for nearly seven months to receive that phone call.
Tomorrow, we will celebrate Lauren's life with a new strong heart. Tonight, I grieve for the family that is remembering the anniversary of their child's untimely death.
Thank you isn't enough.
I have tears in my eyes as I read this, Cristi. Tears for that grieving family, and tears of hope and joy for you, Lauren and your family. I can't believe it's been a whole year. Huge hugs to you and to the donor's family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way God designed the body... to share life in death! I have also thought a lot about this family this year... and I am thankful! After my blog post on my GIG blog this week, a woman from Texas messaged me that her young daughters organs were donated to several people a year ago in April. She talked about what an encouragement Lauren's story has been to her. You all just keep being a blessing! Thank you! GIGATTAATTGIG
